In November, Johns Hopkins shared design plans for a new medical campus in honor of the late Henrietta Lacks, an African-American mother of five whose cancer cells, named HeLa cells, led to breakthroughs in medical care after receiving treatment for cervical cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the 1950s.
