  • TOC monitor measures carbon content in water
The new A10 TOC monitor from Millipore Corp. can measure from 1 to 999 ppb of organic substances in pure and ultrapure water at an hourly flow rate of up to 200 L/hr. This calibrated monitor is shipped with a certificate of calibration and is designed according to the requirements of the TOC Suitability Test in USP 643.

Even relatively low TOC levels in purified water affect the outcome of many laboratory experiments. Therefore, scientists need to regularly measure TOC levels in their high-purity water. Most Milli-Q water purification systems are designed with a built-in TOC monitor to ensure regular, on-line measurement of organic substances in the ultrapure water at the time of delivery. The A10 TOC Monitor can be used on systems without built-in TOC monitors. This stand-alone monitor can be connected to any high-purity water laboratory system, providing rapid measurement of TOC levels.

  • New point-of-use system produces Type II pure water
he Barnstead DIamond TII Type II water system produces water directly from tap using a combination of reverse osmosis, UV oxidation, and deionization. Users can draw directly from the unit for small volume needs or from 30- or 60-L reservoirs. An optional reservoir UV lamp ensures water in storage remains free of bacteria. The LCD display provides data for resistivity, conductivity, TDS, operating pressures, and reservoir water level. Resistivities are available up to 15 Megohm-cm; TOC values are below 10 ppb.

  • Package system allows easy access to environmental monitors

Rees Scientific now offers the e-Centron, a new version of the Centron environmental monitoring system that combines several features into a single package. e-Centron allows an unlimited number of users to access the system through an off-the-shelf browser via their corporate Intranet or the world wide web. The system includes a tower chassis CPU, Centron software, web access software, internal CDRW and auto backup software, monitor, keyboard, mouse, inkjet printer, and 16 input licenses, with the option of expanding in further increments of 16. e-Centron will support hard-wired or wireless technology and is designed to plug into an existing client network.

  • Hood offers sash with memory and 35-in. viewing height

Labconco Corp. offers the new Protector XLE bypass airflow laboratory hoods in seven widths (from 4 ft to 8 ft) and a 35-in. viewing height. The vertical-rising tempered safety glass sash includes a self-closing counterbalanced closing mechanism to maintain a hood access opening of 18-in., providing enhanced safety and energy savings. A sash latch holds the sash in a 28-in.-high position for easy loading and unloading.

To improve hood access, all models offer an ergonomic, low-profile air foil with aerodynamic patented Clean-Sweep airflow openings. The air foil pivots up for easy cleaning. The air foil’s ADA-compliant sill trough doesn’t require a cabinet overhang. Electrical cord pass-throughs on both ends of the air foil safely corral cords.

Exterior construction is a glacier white, dry powder epoxy-coated steel with an interior chemical-resistant molded composite panel liner with pre-set baffles. Service fixtures and electrical duplexes are available.

  • Hydrogen generator line produces lab gas with water

The Chrysalis II Standard Economy Purified Gas (SEPG) line of hydrogen generators employs membrane technology for electrolytic production of pure hydrogen gas. It is suggested by the manufacturer, Matheson Tri-Gas, for operation with gas analyzers, as fuel gas for flame tools, or a source of pure hydrogen in plasma chambers and other isolated environments. The electrolytic membrane technology is clean, requires less maintenance than other technologies, and requires no caustic solutions for operation, according to the manufacturer. Only deionized water is required for the production of reliable, continuous output of >99.999% pure hydrogen.

A user-friendly digital display provides sytem operating status and diagnostic capabilities. An optional remote-control feature is available, and an optional “cascading flow” feature allows labs to connect up to 32 units in parallel operation to deliver a large flow of hydrogen. Single-unit outputs range from 100 to 500 ccm.

  • Lab freezers meet varied user needs

NuAire Corp. offers a broad line of ultra low temperature laboratory freezers, designed to provide exceptional value and sensitive, accurate temperature control. Electronic microprocessor controls offer precision, while automated back-up systems create long-term reliability and protection. The freezers are quiet and energy efficient, and come with multiple available options and accessories. Exterior shells and interior walls are constructed of heavy-gauge galvanized steel for better temperature conduction than stainless steel, reducing stress on compressors and helping them last longer.

Features to improve performance include special V-groove gaskets for sealing power; foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation; efficient compressors; welded rather than soldered copper refrigerant lines; and an automatic alarm system. Upright and chest models are available, providing stable refrigeration down to –85ºC at an ambient temperature up to 32ºC. Units come with casters and adjustable feet for easy placement and leveling.
